Our Story

Introducing the Young Mobility Network, which was established in April 2020 in response to the initial wave of COVID-19 pandemic-related disruptions, including the suspension of various mobility events and gatherings in Berlin.

Our network was founded by a dynamic team of four individuals: Anna , Kolja, Matthias and Patrick. Anna and Kolja's collaboration traces back to their time at the Innovation Center for Mobility and Social Change (InnoZ), while Matthias and Kolja were part of the same cohort at the D-School of the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam. Patrick subsequently joined the team to oversee coordination of our regional hubs.

Since then we have had so much support from our members but most importantly our amazing Regional Hub Coordinators, who organise many activities locally. See below who belongs to our YMN Team. If you want to join us, please reach out.

The picture on the right was captured in early 2023, marking a pivotal moment when our team convened to strategise and shape the year ahead for the network. During this gathering, we organized the network's activities, charted the course for our cherished input sessions, and introduced fresh ideas to our agenda.

„The most exciting aspect of YMN for me is the blend of diverse disciplines and subject areas. Through exchanges and keynote presentations, I continuously gain fresh perspectives on the topic of mobility.“

Fabian Zimmer, former Regional Hub Manager Hamburg

„What truly ignites my enthusiasm for the Network is the opportunity to engage with fellow young enthusiasts passionate about mobility and the diverse array of topics within this field. Whether we're delving into sustainable aviation, autonomous driving, or emerging mobility platforms, each meeting offers fresh insights and the chance to forge valuable new connections.“

Kristina Grodt, Regional Hub Manager Hamburg

2020: The Year YMN Took Its First Step

This is our very first team photo, which was taken at the Prater Biergarden in Berlin back in summer 2021. After building our network exclusively online for over a year, it was a moment of pure joy when we could finally come together in person. It was truly amazing that over 20 individuals joined us for this historic first-ever meetup.

In 2024, the network has expanded to over 500 members—it's truly amazing! We can hardly believe it ourselves.
